Afc Editorial Replies-Why Sony Ended Up Kicking Microsoft’s Can At E3!!!!

June 13, 2013

PS4 Godzilla

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well it looks like the console wars are about to heat up again. Microsoft and Sony will be going head to head with there new consoles which will be released on November 30th (Xbox 1) and December 31st (PS4) respectively.

So what is the big deal with the two, well the main thing is how you can share games between the two systems. On one end, Sony and the PS4 will allow you to share games with your friends with the physical disc and you can even play used games from your PS3, PS Vita and PlayStation Network without any disruptions what so ever. Microsoft on the other hand has you locked with a DRM system in which you buy the game and have it digitally stored on the hard drive so if you want to play games with your friends, you will need to take the Xbox 1 with you and have the Kinect connected in order to play. A major inconvenience in my opinion, I want to play my games anywhere I want without being bogged down carrying my system.

Thus what is the moral of the story, SONY wins and Microsoft bites the dust. I feel that Sony is doing the right thing by allowing you to play all your games from all of your PlayStation devices without any hassle, and Microsoft, well I just don’t know what to say.

I won’t dive into this any further since all the major news outlets have pretty much covered the basics, but come this holiday season, I predict that Sony will be the big winner with the PS4. HANDS DOWN. So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime and manga  out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Breaking News In Gaming-Sonic CD Now Available On Xbox Live Arcade!!!!

December 17, 2011

Sonic Cd

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well for those of you who are fans of Sonic The Hedgehog, have I got news for you. On Wednesday Microsoft had released the popular Sega CD game in the Xbox Live Arcade. The game is exactly like the original game with updated graphics and all the great stuff you remember.

The game was originally released for the Sega CD back in 1993. The game was given strong praise from popular gaming magazines such as GamePro and Electronic Gaming Monthly  with 5 out of 5 ratings and best game of 1993. However, the momentum did not last long however when the Sony PlayStation debuted a year later in 1994.

If you want to see video of the gameplay for the Xbox Live Arcade edition of the game, see it below:

Afc Gaming Zone-Catherine First Look!!!!!

July 2, 2011

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Now as I mentioned millions and millions of times before, in a few weeks time I will be playing one of the most anticipated titles in gaming this year (besides Call Of Duty 3) Catherine. I will be doing some gameplay videos for the Afc Gaming Zone YouTube page to show you how it works. But before that happens, your probably wondering what this game is all about. Well have I got a treat for you, here is your first look at Catherine.

Catherine Demo-Xbox 360 Gameplay

Catherine is a game in which you play as a single man named Vincent Brooks, a man who enjoys hanging out with his friends at the local bar known as The Stray Sheep and who want’s to remain as a independent person with out having to get married and raise a family. However, Vincent’s lover, Katherine whom she has been friends with since childhood decides that it is time to think about settling down and starting a family.

Vincent not too thrilled with the idea and is not ready to make the plunge decides to head over to The Stray Sheep to think things over, there he meets Catherine. A young twenty-two year old who manages to hit things off with Vincent in which they end up spending the night at his apartment. But things manage to take a turn for the worst when Vincent starts having nightmares about marriage, having kids and other things that a future married man would face.

Overall the game consists of puzzles in which you help Vincent climb up a series of staircases which consist of giant blocks that you need to move, push or pull out of the way in order to reach the top. The game also features ethical decisions in which determines how the game will progress. I won’t go into much detail on this yet, but overall it is a really interesting feature added to make the game more exciting.

But in conclusion, I am totally pumped for this game and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. So if you would like to see a sneak preview of the game, watch the video above. Also you can check out a full walkthrough of the game by going to TokyoDomeSF’4’s channel on YouTube (Click on the link at the end of this post). There you will find a complete walk through of the game for PS3 along with some witty English translations. I enjoyed it, but I did not watch the ending so that it doesn’t ruin the experience for me. So for those of you who want to watch it all the way, do so at your own risk!!!!!!

And with that, this will wrap up my first look at Catherine. So make sure to stay with us for exclusive footage and commentary of the game as well as my full review in the weeks to come. So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime, manga and video games out there. All you have to do is find them. Ltrs.

Afc Gaming Zone-Catherine Preview Part 1

June 10, 2011

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well in less than about six weeks from now, Altus will be releasing the U.S. version of the popular Japanese Adventure\Puzzle game Catherine for the Xbox 360 and Ps3 (July 26, 2011). Now for those of you who are still on the fence on weather or not to shell out sixty to eighty bucks for the regular or collectors editions of the game (I ordered both for the Xbox 360!!!!), the following video will give you a little taste of what you can expect to see in the game.

Originally, I was going to post the dramatic climax from the game, however I decided not to do so for two reasons. 1) The scene contains some very graphic images which include blood being spilt and 2) I don’t want to ruin the last few minutes of the game for those of you who are planning on playing it.

Do keep in mind that I will be showing another clip from the game as well as give you my personal thoughts as to what I will expect for the game itself and actual gameplay footage (when the game is released) to give you a first hand experience of how it handles and the overall playability factor of the game itself. So do stay with us for more on this and other events going on in the world of video games in the Afc Gaming Zone.

So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime, manga, and video games out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well summer is almost officially upon us, and with that we will have tons of anime, manga and games to catch up upon. And speaking of games, I am going to be launching a new segment this summer  entitled The AFC Gaming Zone. This segment will focus on what is going on with the gaming industry along with reviews, commentaries and game play footage of classic and current game series for old school and current generation consoles.

And to kick things off in the right direction, I am going to be playing a very interesting puzzle/action game entitled Catherine. You can watch the official trailer above to see why I have selected this for my first playing. I just pre-ordered the game on Amazon and now all I need is an Xbox 360 and I will be all set to go. BTW, if you would like some information about the game, check out the links at the end of the post.

Keep in mind that this is going to be a part of Big Otaku Summer series, I will have more details on that later on this week. So until then, remember that there is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.
