Andrew’s Anime Rants-Media Blasters Is Discontinuing Bakuman Anime Release Indefinitely!!!

November 2, 2012

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well I have some bad news to report for those of you who are fans of the Bakuman anime as I am. It was recently announced that Media Blasters, the current holders of the Bakuman anime series has officially announced that the company has no further plans to release the series on DVD or Blu-Ray disc due to lack-luster sales (The company has had plans to release the next six episodes of the series on DVD and the entire first series on Blu-Ray disc this year).

However, there are plans in the works in which Media Blasters will be transferring the license of the series to Viz Media who currently owns the rights to the manga series in the U.S. and the anime in the UK. Currently there is no word of a finalized deal between the two companies but we will update you on this as soon as word of a deal is reached.

Now like most of you fans out there, I am completely upset with Media Blasters discontinuing this series. Well it was bound to happen since they have at times had to flip flop releases due to delays with disc manufacturing and or they need more time to perfect the disc themselves. And not to mention that Media Blasters had within the last year to layoff some of it’s staff last year. It’s no wonder that the company is on it’s last legs even though it has released some quality series such as Genshiken, Rurouni Kenshin, and Kujibiki Unbalance just to name a few.

Overall, I hope that Media Blasters will give the rights of the anime to Viz since this is a really good series and I hate to see it sit on the shelves to gather dust. And as I mentioned earlier that we will keep you posted as to what will happens with Viz Media and Media Blasters as to the license as soon as it’s available.

So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Andrew’s Anime Rants-The Collapse Of Funimation???

May 29, 2010

7583  funimation

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well here is another edition of my anime rants. And folks you may want to stay in your seats for this one.

According to, it has been announced recently that Funimation Entertainment’s parent company Navarre Corporation is currently in the process of selling the popular Japanese anime distribution company. Navarre states that Funimation’s business strategy is completely different from the companies overall strategy. They claim that in order for the business to grow, Funimation needs to focus on providing original content, social networking products and focus on digital broadcasting in which a potential buyer of the company with the same interests can provide.

As Navarre’s CEO Cary L. Deacon goes on to state,

Navarre is perusing a more focus strategy. Now that we have substantially reduced debt and improved operating margins, we are focusing our efforts on drawing revenue, particularly in new product lines”.

Now I don’t know if you are outraged by this or not but in all honesty, I am F******* P***** off by this. Now as most of you guys know, Funimation is one of the most popular anime distribution companies that has survived the tough times of the recession. Personally, I am absolutely upset by what Navarre is doing. This has to be one of the biggest mistakes that a huge corporation like Navarre could make. Navarre has plans to release more details during their end of the fiscal year conference call this Friday.

We will have more information about Navarre’s plans for Funimation later on this week, so stay with us for the latest updates on this developing story. So until next time, remember that there is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Andrew’s Anime Rants-Haruhi Season 2, It’s About F*^&%#@* Time

March 29, 2010

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

It’s time now for another edition of Andrew’s Anime Rants, and trust me guys this one is going to be interesting.

So some of you readers out there remember that once upon a time, in a anime universe far, far away their was a popular yet underrated anime series known as The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya. However many people were not much into the series because they thought it was weird and that the storyline was just way too confusing.

But for those people who are hardcore fans of the series, they ask themselves when is or is their going to be a second season of this popular series. Well last year in Japan, Kadokawa the company that owns the rights to Haruhi Suzumiya started to re-air the original episodes of season one along with season two. Along with the re-airing, a new never before seen episode was released entitled “Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody” aired as the first new episode of the series. It was also the first time that the series aired in it’s proper chronological order. The episodes aired on Kadokawa’s YouTube channel for a short period of time, but many fans were wondering will we ever be able to see this season in the states?

Well for all you Haruhi fans out there, let me just say that your prayers have been answered!!!!!!!!!! It was recently announced last month that Bandai Entertainment the U.S. distributor of Haruhi had recently obtained the rights to season two of The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya. It has been stated that the company will be releasing season two as a complete collection later on this year. It is unknown at this time if this “complete collection” will have both seasons and episode 8 included or if it will just be season two only.

Well I have just one thing to say about this, Bandai it about F*&%^$#! time you got the rights to season two. Granted I only recently started watching the series last year, but I am so damn hooked on it I have been on the edge of my seat to see if the second season would be released in the states. So good job Bandai, I hope this goes well. And not to worry guys, we will make sure to keep you up to date on the latest developments on this breaking story.

So until next time, remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there. All you have to do is find it. Ltrs.

Andrew’s Anime Rants-Adult Swims Possible Acquisitions And Why I May Get A Mac

January 15, 2010

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well it has been an interesting week for the anime industry, but their is a couple of things that I have been thinking about. So I think the best way to express this is to create a new segment entitled Andrew’s Anime Rants. And for my first rant, I am going to be talking about Adult Swims possible acquisitions and why I might consider buying a Mac. Ok I know that the second subject in the rant is not anime related, but I have my reasons in which you will see momentarily.

1) Adult Swims Possible Acquisitions

Now for those of you who may not have heard, Cartoon Networks Adult Swim block has recently lost the rights to air Death Note and Blood+ in which the network aired the last five episodes of Death Note on Sunday January 10,2010. However the network has claimed they have obtained the rights to three new series in which the network aired an on-screen bumper which stated,

We’ve lost the rights to Death Note and Blood+. We’re just clearing house for goodies from our last Tokyo visit. We can’t tell you anything yet, but we think we bought three series [maybe].”

Source-Anime News Network

So I have been keeping a close eye on the anime discussion boards all across the net and I have noticed a trend in which most people have been agreeing to. The three shows that might possibly come to the Adult Swim block are,

1) Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

2) Inuyasha: The Final Act

3) Soul Eater

Please keep in mind that these are just general speculations from anime fans and that it has not yet been confirmed as if these series or others may replace Death Note and Blood+. We will be keeping a close eye on this situation and we will keep you posted on further developments.

2) Why I Might Consider Buying A Mac Instead Of A Netbook

Ok, I know that this next topic is not anime related, but I feel that I need to let out a little steam. A while back I told you guys that I wanted to get a netbook for Christmas so that I can do some blogging on the go. Well I got some gift cards for Christmas and I was going to get one, but I have decided to wait because most of the major computer companies have released new netbook models with the new Pineview processors. Now I have seen a few on Amazon that I wanted to get, but I decided to wait until they were available at Best Buy, but sadly they have not have them out for sale just yet.

Now they still have the older models available for a lot less than they used to, but let me say this. Best Buy, the new netbook models have been out for almost a week now so why the heck do you still have the older models available but not the new ones? Granted I know that you are still trying to get rid of them, but you are currently way behind. What’s up with that? So this brings me to maybe purchasing a Mac instead. I heard so many good things about them and that my little brother recently purchased a 27” Imac in which he enjoys the heck out of it. And to be quite honest, I really wanted to get a Mac for such a long time. And with the release of snow leopard, it makes me want one even more. So in conclusion, if Best Buy doesn’t get their act together by getting the new models in, the Mac may be coming closer to fruition. But anyway, this will wrap up this edition of Andrew’s Anime Rants. So until next time, remember that their is a ton of great anime and manga out there. all you have to do is find it. Ltrs.
