Anime Reflections-Carl Macek 1951-2010

Hello and greetings fellow otaku,

Well over this past weekend, we lost another pioneer in the anime industry. Carl Macek, producer and story editor of the popular 80’s anime series Robotech passed away from a massive heart attack on Saturday April 17, 2010.

Besides Robotech, Mr.. Macek also has done work with other series such as Bleach, Castle In The Sky, Lupin III:The Castle Of Cagliostro and My Neighbor Totoro. Carl Macek was 50 years old at the time of his passing.

I feel that Robotech was one of his best works, I was first exposed to this series back in 2005 when I first brought the Protoculture Collection of Robotech. Even though I originally was exposed to the series by reading the novels by Jack McKinney, the series really brought what I read into a strong perspective. Thus I officially became hooked to the series.

So Mr. Macek, may you rest in peace and may your legacy in the anime industry live on now and well into the future. Ltrs.
